Bodhi Tree
Bo tree is the sacred tree of India. It is also called the Bodhi tree. Bodhi is a Sanskrit word meaning enlightenment, and the tree is called the tree of enlightenment or wisdom. Buddhists believe Buddha was under a Bo tree when heavenly light gave him the ideas for his religion. The Bo tree is one of the fig trees. It grows 30 metres high, with great spreading branches and large leaves.
Scientific Classification. The Bo tree is in the mulberry family, Moraceae. It is Ficus religiosa.
